I am sure most of you have had snow and the freezing temps. As of this writing it is 16 outside. Thank GOD for the heat and fireplace.
We moved in this house almost 2 years ago with our son and his wife. They have since moved on and so the renovations continue for us. In 2010, I shall be looking for certain pieces to put in this house. Looking at the center of my kitchen ; I am longing for an old table that I can put wheels on and a butcher block top that will move around with me.
During the holidays, I needed to get some baskets off the floors. I was one of those Longaberger collectors, who have more than I need of baskets. My husband & I made the little ladder when we done wholesale, so it took care of some of them. Any ideas would be appreciated for some of the bigger ones I cannot hang.
Since my son and daughter-in -law moved out, I need to get this wallpaper down off a bedroom wall. You can see the yucky yellow paint underneath and the cracks which will have to be patched in the wall. When it is done this will be another room to decorate. Yesterday, I got my fabric softner and vinegar to spray, to start this week. Then I will paint some nuetral color. We have to get a new bed and all the fixins to make the room.
We built this farmhouse table last year and I have found some old windsor chairs here & there. I am on the lookout for 3 more to complete my table. This will probably be an ongoing search throughout the year.We are hoping to have all our kids home 2010 Thanksgiving, so I will need them by then.May this year keep everyone safe , healthy and full of blessings.

Your home is so beautiful!!! I love it! I have a some larger baskets..and I love to use them under cupboards and such..you could use one under your butcher block area and fill it with old napkins and tablecloths :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful New Year filled with joy & happiness,
Doreen
Everything looks great! You could also use a big basket in the bathroom for t.p. and such. Have a great new year!!! Dawn
ReplyDeleteI used to sell Longaberers and I have an attic full of the ones I no longe rout out on display because thye don't fit my colonial decor. The ones I do use I stained dark or painted prim colors. I use some big ones in my lower level family room which is more country than colonial and I store magazines in one, afghans and throws in another and my grand daughters diapers in yet another. I hang some from the beam as well.
ReplyDeleteGood evening!
ReplyDeleteI must say that I have mentioned to my husband many times that I thought the future (2000 + years) would resemble like what we see in the movies...steel cities, flying vehicles...you know what I mean...you have the same thoughts! lol Incredible back in the 70's how we thought the future would be.
I love your kitchen - is that a distressed effect on the cabinets/cupboard or is it a whitewash...either way I love it.
Karen
OH I love love love your kitchen and love the table you built...gotta love those longaberger baskets...but yeah where do you put them...have a wonderful week ahead....:>)
ReplyDeleteYep got the Longaberger baskets too. LOL. I use a few of them like others have mentioned to put throws or quilts in. I have my magazine basket in my bathroom for reading material. Though Steve says I need to buy some car magazines for it not Country Sampler. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOVE what you've done so far in your home. Such pretty yellow paint. You wonder what other people were thinking. LOL. Anyway, It's always fun to be on the look out for things like your chairs. I saw some beautiful ladder backs yesterday, but I didn't need them and obviously no place to put them.

Everything looks wonderful! I had to laugh because just yesterday morning I was thinking about what to do with all these baskets! I too was a Longaberger nut and have a gazillion. I have almost the entire Christmas collection on top of my kitchen cupboards (all year thru) and I am "over them" being up there. So where do they go next? A closet? And take up room in there? Anyway, Happy New Year and Blessings to you in 2010.

Saw that you use vinegar and fabric softner to remove wallpaper. How do you mix it? You can email me at lizrag@aol.com Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I too, thought we would be living like the Jetson's by now! LOL! Glad too, that we are not!

I remember not ever liking to watch the Jetson's because I knew I would never want to live like that...I've always loved the simple ways! I'm glad it's not that advanced too!
Blessings to you and your family for a Happy New Year!
Tammy

I have an old farm table outside in storage that is meant to be my kitchen island too. It needs a new top. (And just thinking about it now, I'm thinking I'm going to go bring it in and use it anyway!) :-)
Good luck with your wall paper/paint makeover...looking forward to the re-do pictures! How fun to be able to get all new for a bedroom! You have some fun stuff going on!
Remember 2001 A Space Oddyssey?
I'm glad we still live like we do! LOL
